And there’s more…

September 19, 2010

I’ve been experimenting with polymer clay buttons recently and there’s been quite a lot of interest . People who make individual hand made garments want individual buttons to complement their designs, rather than mass produced plastic efforts. They also want to be able to choose colours or commission their own designs. So I’ll be putting an accessories section on my website soon to offer sets of buttons. And I thought it might be a good idea to offer some matching earrings too.

So if you’re looking for unique buttons to finish off your special item of clothing, let me know. I can  make them for you.

Concentrating the mind

May 6, 2010

A commission helps to concentrate the mind. Especially when you have a  time limit too.  A friend asked me to make a bracelet for his wife. It had to be chunky and feature her favourite colours – violet, blue and white.  And could it also incorporate a heart shape ?  Normally I could idly mull over possible designs for days without coming to a decision. But having  a very specific brief helped to concentrate the mind and move things along. I decided to make a ’tile’ bracelet, something I hadn’t attempted before. I used extruded clay for the tiles and made a small heart as the clasp.
